All the recipes in this blog are free from refined sugar and use either zero or low sugar natural sweeteners. 

The recipes are aim to be as low carb as possible too so they are all grain and gluten free – (except for one rogue cake that slipped in!).

Peach and Ginger Crumble Cake or Dessert

This gorgeous concoction of juicy ripe peaches, soft vanilla sponge and buttery crumble is based on a recipe I found in one of those supermarket magazines.  It was a bit of a shot in the dark. Using a very different flour and an adjusted ratio of ingredients, there seemed a fair possibility I might have to dispose of large wobbly disaster. But I’m relieved and happy to announce this luxurious low carb version won the day. It really is a magnificent beast. Super-tasty too. And perfect for a late Summer treat.

Berry Clafoutis

In France they know a thing or two about sexy delicious desserts. And this lovely clafoutis is a prime example.

I love this pud because it’s full to bursting with fruit and the batter is so light and creamy. Served chilled it’s an ideal dessert for a Summer meal. In the cooler months served straight from the oven, it’s a great comforter. In any season, I recommend adding a little crème fraiche alongside. Read more

Quick Choc Chia Pud


When you’re in need of a low carb, zero/low sugar dessert at short notice, it’s good to have one or two recipes up your sleeve that you can throw together with minimal fuss or fancy ingredients. This lovely little chocolate heartthrob fits the bill. And yet for all its simplicity it’s definitely one to savour and whisper “yum” to. This probably has something to do with the generous dark chocolate topping you need to break through to reach the fruity, nutty, choccy squidge below. Read more
