When was the last time you had steamed pudding? Before I started experimenting with a low sugar/low carb version recently, the last time for me was probably decades ago.

Yacon syrup is a win win natural sweetener in my opinion. It contains sugars called fructoligosaccharides that are not digested by the body, so they don’t effect blood sugars in the way other natural syrups do, such as coconut nectar and maple syrup. Just a tablespoon or two of yacon syrup is enough to add that extra woo hoo! to a fruit crumble or baked fruit. Read more

I don’t know about you, but a cake recipe that involves little more than lobbing everything into a food processor and pressing the ON button – always gets my vote.
Until the happy day comes when bakers and retailers start catering for people on low sugar diets, keeping off sugar basically requires either a spiritual conversion to full-time savoury or a commitment make each sweet treat that passes your lips yourself. Read more

One of the most wonderful things about muffins is that they give us full licence to eat cake for breakfast. What more compelling reason could there be for getting out of bed? Particularly when they’re a classic blueberry and cake sponge combo and they’re as low in sugars and carbohydrates as these boys. Read more
